MINDFULNESS

Laura Innis is an experienced Mindfulness teacher with a deep understanding of the practice and its benefits. She has been a daily practitioner for many years, and completed multiple 8-week Mindfulness (MBSR) courses in England before partaking in the 31 day Mindfulness Summit by Australian Melli O’Brien (co-founder of Mindfulness.com).

Laura then completed the Post-graduate Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapies and Approaches (MBCT) program at the University of Exeter, School pf Psychology. MBCT was co-developed by Dr. Mark Williams (Oxford University) and John Teasdale (Cambridge University). She then continued her training with the Headstrong program developed by Melli O’Brien for Mindfulness-based Mental Strength Training (MB-MST), and received her Professional Certification in Trauma & Resilience from Florida State University.

In addition to her extensive training in Mindfulness, Laura is an ordained minister and has a B.S in Wildlife Biology, a Master’s degree in Biology, and she completed her first year of her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Cell Sciences prior to joining the Center for Aids Research in the Department of Medicine at UCSD as a researcher. She is an entrepreneur who owned several businesses including a House Music lounge in London for a decade, before finally selling her club and following her dream of having a luxury boutique wellness ranch.

EQUINE-GUIDED MINDFULNESS

Combining her two passions of mindfulness and horses, Laura became a Certified Facilitator in Equine-guided Meditation. She received her training under the guidance of Dr. Margaretha Montagu, an EAGALA certified Equine Assisted Mindfulness Facilitator who holds retreats in the South of France. Through this training, Laura learned how to incorporate horses into mindfulness practices, and has been able to help people connect with their emotions and inner selves, heal from trauma, reduce depression and lower anxiety. Her unique approach of combining mindfulness and equine-guided meditation allows her to offer an innovative and holistic approach to mental and emotional well-being.

HORSES

With over 40 years of experience with horses, Laura has worked and trained horses in various countries including England, Spain and the USA. In 2016, she was involved in a severe horseback riding accident in Cornwall, England, where she sustained multiple fractures in her back and her spine collapsed. Despite the setback, Laura used her knowledge of mindfulness and healing prayer to rehabilitate herself, choosing the warmth of Spain as her location for recovery. She utilized the healing power of horses, by incorporating mindfulness and equine-assisted practices in her rehabilitation journey, which helped her to recover both physically and mentally.
